Place Nodes

This section provides definitions for all "Place" type nodes.

Description: Generic node label for all real or imagined locations that have an understandable and unique identity. Places may exist at multiple scales, and may be nested within each other, from an entire continent, country, or city, to an individual neighborhood, plot of land, or precise square centimeter on the earth's surface. They may be located and/or represented using spatial coordinates and geometries supported by geographic information systems.

Nodes are NEVER recorded with ONLY the "Place" label, but ALWAYS with one of the following label PAIRS:

Label 1Label 2Label Pair
PlaceArea :Place:Area
PlaceContext :Place:Context
PlaceGrid :Place:Grid
PlacePoint :Place:Point
PlaceRegion :Place:Region
PlaceSite :Place:Site
PlaceStorageLocation :Place:StorageLocation
PlaceStratigraphicInterface :Place:StratigraphicInterface
PlaceTrench :Place:Trench

The reason for this generic label is to facilitate queries across all "Place" types. Additional pairs may be added as the data model incorporates additional "Place" types.
