Thing Nodes

This section provides definitions for all "Thing" type nodes.

Description: Generic node label for all physical or digital items that are recorded in the database and that have an understandable and unique identity. Things may exist at multiple scales, and be nested within each other, from an entire building or individual room or wall within a building, to a collection of pot sherds, individual sherd or artifact, or an inscription on another object. Things may have multiple recorded spatial attributes, including specific findspot (as a point), enclosing context, and current or former storage locations.

Nodes are NEVER recorded with ONLY the "Thing" label, but ALWAYS with one of the following label PAIRS:

Label 1Label 2Label Pair
ThingArtifact :Thing:Artifact
ThingBuilding :Thing:Building
ThingBuildingSection :Thing:BuildingSection
ThingCollection :Thing:Collection
ThingEcofact :Thing:Ecofact
ThingFeature :Thing:Feature
ThingInscription :Thing:Inscription
ThingMediaFile :Thing:MediaFile
ThingNote :Thing:Note
ThingObservation :Thing:Observation
ThingPail :Thing:Pail
ThingSample :Thing:Sample
ThingSherd :Thing:Sherd

The reason for this generic label is to facilitate queries across all "Thing" types. Additional pairs may be added as the data model incorporates additional "Thing" types.
